Goodreads Synopsis:
Gert finally realizes that being such a murderous maniac might be the reason she's not been able to find her way out of the candy-coated world of Fairyland that has been her nightmare for over forty years. She sets off on a new quest to redeem herself and tries to earn her way back home with good deeds and kindness and love and whatever other mushy, touchy-feely things she can manage.
The epic and hilarious fantasy quest continues from fan favorite cartoonist SKOTTIE YOUNG.
Collecting issues 11 through 15.
Review:
I have already read the single issues of #11 and #12 (links above) so this is really just a review of Issues 13-15.
Gert is attempting to become good in order to finally make it home and her attempts are hilarious and just as backwards as you might imagine. She has tried to save a baby and that didn't go as planned, now she is on to her next adventure for good completing a labyrinth in order to get the balls of redemption. Before getting there we have a nice dream sequence from Larry about how his life might have been different without Gert. Once they make it to the labyrinth they are met buy a creepy dude (not going to elaborate because that is half the fun, but I still feel icky) he offers Gert a deal. Gert doesn't wait to hear the full terms before she agrees and we are into the maze.
I really really loved these issues, Gert trying to be a good girl is hilarious in so many ways and the ending to this collection is shocking and the ultimate cliff-hanger. Gert is not as violent in these last few issues and is really trying to redeem herself. The last issue was so weird having known Gert for this long and I am very interested to see what happens next.
