Monthly Re-Cap: May 2017

Hello Readers, Bloggers, and Awesome people!

The beginning of May was crappy as far as weather goes, still cold and very rainy but now it is finally nicer out.

I was very busy at the beginning of the month with work and then trying to get my home-life back in order after that.

However, it was a super productive reading month, especially with audiobooks : ) and lots of comics and graphic novels again.

Armchair Book Expo: Day 1 - Introductions & Best Practices

Armchair Book Expo Headquarters

Hello and Welcome to Cover2CoverBlog!
It is another year and that means another round of Armchair Book Expo.

While some lucky bloggers and bookish people are playing in NYC at the Book Expo IRL - we are here, at home/work/etc, but still what to play -- so we do it online with Armchair Book Expo!

Here is the Agenda for the week. Feel free to join in if you are not in NYC at the Expo [or if you are, that is fine too :)], there are lots of fun prompts, twitter parties and giveaways!

Day 1
Introductions
Some of this you will have found on the Armchair Book Expo page, as I am not only participating but also help run the event.

  1. I am . . . Stephanie (aka Gorelenore online). I am part of the Sponsorship Team with Armchair Book Expo. I am also a… reader, blogger, pet mom, full-time administrative assistant, lover of World of Warcraft, big sister of eight (9 of us total), and generally very nerdy 🤓person. [UPDATE: I would LOVE to go to Book Expo (next year) so if anyone wants to send me/pay for it for me that would be great..k thx]
  2. Currently . . . I am at work... and that is a pain, I would much rather be reading.
  3. I love . . . to read (obv.), snuggling with my pets - Rolo 🐶 and Cooper🐱, and my hubby - he puts up with me.
  4. My favorite . . . food right now is the Nabisco Good Thins - The Rice One "Simply Salt" I have been buying them ALL the time and I can eat a whole box in 1 sitting - it is a problem but it could be worse. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  5. My least favorite . . . thing right now is being at work - these short weeks make me want a vacation and everyone is really busy right now and it is no fun.
  6. My current read . . .  is so many things! While writing this, I am reading a physical version of Get it Together, Delilah! By Erin Gough, I am listening to A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin on CD when I am in my car, and I am listening to Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers via an Audible download whenever I can (5/22/17) UPDATE: I am finished with Delilah and Grave Mercy and am reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and listening to Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers .

  7. My summer plans . . . are mostly to relax and try to get LOADS of reading done! I have a whole month where work will be slow, so I want to use it wisely. I also plan on going camping 🏕 a few times and maybe finding time to day-trip to a beach 🏖 somewhere…
  8. My buddy . . . Mr. Toad is back now that it is warm in VT, he is a toad that lives under our Propane tank for the house - We have a "Mr. Toad" every year and he is my buddy (or at least I like to think so)
  9. My blog/channel/social media . . . THIS is my blog (Yay🎉 thank you for being here!), I do have a YouTube... but I need to actually do it more often (feel free to Subscribe just in case), and I am on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram too.
  10. The best . . . lazy day involves my dog, a blanket, the couch, a good book, tea/coffee, and a snack (probably those Good Thins!).
Best Practices
"Best Practices in the Online Book Community: Let's talk about our best practices within the book community. This can range from time management to the use of social media to even ethical obligations."
One of the best practices that I TRY (very hard) to do is to back up my blog monthly - I have heard of scares where people lose so much of their blog because they don't do this one simple thing. BUT that is the hard part, it is so simple and doesn't take any time...so you put it off. DON'T! Go do it....NOW!

[...slinks off this post to actually do it herself...]

That's my PSA for the day!!!
Happy Day 1 of Armchair Book Expo!
