Review:
I saw this comic in one of Netgalley's emails and fell in love with the cover. Before I even read the synopsis, I downloaded it and the next 2 installments (which I am currently reading).
This book is absolutely gorgeous! The thought and detail that went into these panels is stunning and for that alone I would give this 5 stars, but it is also an amazing story. Maika is entering a compound as a slave but she has a purpose, she is out to get answers. And the story is so well written that you get lost in Maika and her tale, both past and present as the writer tells it.
I really enjoyed the mystery surrounding Maika's character and her background. The reader is given just enough to progress through the story and also leave us with bigger questions for the rest of the series. I like how passive Maika seems, but deep down she is fighting her own demons and they may play a bigger role in this series than I know of yet.
I really did adore these graphics and think that the artist did a beautiful job conveying the scenes and the emotion of the characters. This is a very violent graphic novel though, with some swearing so it is not recommended for younger audiences. I LOVED it very much and cannot wait to keep reading about the character and her trials.
Have you read this one? I know it is becoming very popular lately - let me know what you thought (But no spoilers please - I am still reading the series) .
