Goodreads Synopsis:
From three-time Newbery Honor author Gary Paulsen comes a laugh-out-loud novella about six wacky misfits who get stuck together in a school restroom and discover friendship.
It seemed like a normal school day, until a horrible storm forced the very cautious school administration to make everyone hole up in a safe place. Six students find themselves stuck in a tiny, questionably smelly space—a school bathroom—with a stuffed cat for entertainment. Hijinks ensue and the unexpected happens. They enter as strangers…and leave as friends.
Review:
Six Kids and a Stuffed Cat is about just that - six kids and a cat stuffed animal. They are stuck in a school restroom while waiting out a storm. These are six very different students that all seem to come together in the moments of having to share a space. This was a short story that also has a play adaptation. The CDs include a PDF of the screenplay version and also a 2nd read through of the story as a play.
The story was very fun to listen to and I liked the unexpected friendhship of these kids. It was a happy story about them learning about themselves and others and even though it was a short story it seemed to have a lot to it. I think middle grade readers will enjoy this book and the audio version is very good.
