My Rating:
Review: Beautiful Darkness almost seemed like the same story as Beautiful Creatures to me. There was a lot of the same angst and fear from Lena and Ethan's overwhelming sense of duty to her. That is not to say that I did not enjoy the book, but it did take me much linger to get through than book one.
Ethan's character finds out a lot of things about himself and his mother and their relationship to the Caster world that change him and his vision of the future. While Lena is going through the same torment she was in book one; wanting to be rid of her burden, choosing light or dark, but this time her family's lives hang in the balance.
The first half of the book was a little slow, just the blow-back from Lena's birthday and her angst and anger toward all the people around her. One you get to the 70% mark everything moves quickly, you learn about new threats to Lena and Ethan and the Casters and things really pick up. Looking forward to see where it heads next.
