Goodreads Synopsis:
Welcome to the Lost Plains!

A Wild West frontier where dinosaurs never went extinct.

Josh Sanders wants to be the next big dinosaur cowboy - roping raptors and ridin' bucking brontosauruses just like his hero, Terrodactyl Bill!

Too bad he's stuck working on his family's iguanodon ranch, riding his ancient dino, Plodder. The closest Josh has ever been to a T. rex is reading about them in his Dino Rider Handbook.

To prove he has what it takes, Josh is determined to win the annual settlement race. But he's gonna need one fast dino to stand a change. With the help of his friends Sam and Abi, Josh will need to tame a wild triceratops!

Review:
I won this book from a Sourcebooks giveaway and before passing it on to another, probably more appropriate, aged reader - I decided to read it :)

How to Tame a Triceratops is the first book in the Middle Grade Dino Riders series. It is about a young boy who lives in a place where it is the wild west with dinosaurs. His family owns a far and he has to herd iguanodon but his mount dino is getting old and he would love to upgrade to a newer, younger, faster dinosaur and as luck would have it there is also a race to be held, so he NEEDS that dinosaur.

The book follows Josh as he voices his troubles to friends and family and makes the decision to get a new dino, and then enter a very dangerous race. Overall this plot was a good one and for getting kids to read, I think this series seems pretty great - who doesn't love a good dinosaur book?! But even though it was entertaining, there wasn't too much conflict or resolution, everything came pretty easy to Josh. I would have liked to see more learning taking place in a book geared toward the MG readers.
